In this blog post I just basically wanted to get some ideas down about some different sites (mainly blogs right now) that I am going to be starting very soon.

I will be blogging on here when I update each of the sites and also when the site is released fully. Below is some details on each of the sites I am planning on starting soon.

Technology Blog

Yes, I am well aware that the technology blogging genre is pretty crowded at the moment and it probably will be quite difficult to get into the market at all as a new start up. However, as I love talking about and using technology, I thought it was only right that I had my own blog on it where I could publish my own views.

The blog itself will also hopefully be host to latest technology news (with my take on it), technology reviews and other interesting stuff.

Time will tell as to whether this will be a success at all, I’m giving it a good go regardless!

Comping blog

Comping is a word used to describe the art of entering competitions, something which I like to do on a regular basis, hell, it’s great getting stuff for free!

The blog itself will talk about different sites to find competitions and also different types of competitions available. The blog itself is pretty specific and I do not know immediately a blog dedicated to competition entering. The blog will host its own competitions and also feature more interesting competitions I find during my own competition entering.

Adult blog

Now, I’d rather not go into a great deal of detail about this particular site on this blog as I don’t feel it immediately appropriate talking about adult sites in great detail on my personal blog.

All I will say on the subject is that this blog will be talking about different adult sites on the internet and also be bringing some of the best free stuff to its readers.

I can confirm you will never ever see a link to my adult blog posted on this blog, guaranteed as I would prefer to keep this blog completely separate from any graphically adult material.

And the above just about sums up what I have in mind at the moment, I am getting started now on one of these and whenever there is any updates on them they will be posted on here.

Now I’m sure the majority of people browsing the internet have probably heard of Flickr before, however, I’m sure there are still loads of people who have never been on the site.

I just wanted to post about Flickr and the reasons why I am a Pro subscriber of the photo sharing website.

Introduction

As I have just mentioned, Flickr is a large community dedicated to the sharing of both images and more recently, videos. These images and videos can be commented on, favourited and posted into different groups.

There are several reasons why I specifically use Flickr and no other image hosting site on the internet, and this is because of the amazing features it offers, some of which I will go through throughout this post.

Uploading

It is so easy to share your images using Flickr’s image hosting and your own user pages. The images themselves can be easily and quickly uploaded to the site using Flickr Uploadr which handles the process very efficiently and allows several photos to be uploaded at once.

However, I not only have Flickr Uploadr installed on my system but I also use it in connection with Picasa, making use of the Flickr integration that allows you to select one or more photos or videos from Picasa and transfers them across to the Uploadr and takes the photo descriptions and tags with it.

This to me is definitely something that makes using Flickr so much easier as this tool is so simple and effective, something which is pretty much non-existent on other photo hosting websites whereby to upload your media you have to use the upload forms which often make it difficult to upload several images at the same time.

Comments

The ability to comment so easily within a photo page really impresses me and is one of the main reasons I love Flickr. There is a real feeling of community on Flickr and comments are generally helpful and informative and if you build up a list of contacts on Flickr a lot of them will also comment on your images.

Getting comments on your photos also gives you an idea of what other people think about your content that you have submitted to Flickr. People often give you comments on how you could improve on a similar photo in future, this advice to me is perfect as it gives you several opinions of people who are seeing your photos for the first time.

Tagging

Tagging is also an integral part of the way in which Flickr functions and allows people to find very relevant images very quickly. The above screenshots is a list of tags which I have used for the following image:

Flickr is very very huge when it comes to tagging photos, the amount of tags currently in use on Flickr is colossal. However, when they are used correctly they are perfect and allows users to search and Flickr will bring up the most relevant images according to your search terms.

Groups

The above screenshot shows a list of groups which I have submitted the earlier photograph into. Now groups are used to promote your images to people that might be interested in your particular photograph.

The images that are submitted to a group can be found in the group’s photo pool and people with interests similar to the photograph you have submitted, and that are registered to the group will be able to see your image and click through to it when they visit the group pages.

A function which Flickr also recently implemented is the group invite tool, whereby group administrators can invite other people’s images to their group. This is very functional as it means that no longer does the creator of the image need to find a group that they hadn’t thought of.

Conclusion

Above is the main features of Flickr that I find most useful and also the features that make Flickr stand out from the crowd when it comes to image hosting and also image sharing.

Why not give Flickr a try for yourself? Post a comment with your Photostream URL, or visit mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/carsnap/
